Ergometry

Ergometry is an exercise ECG. The heart flow curve is measured with sensors on the patient’s skin and recorded graphically. In contrast to the resting ECG, however, the patient performs a strenuous activity during ergometry; in our practice he pedals a bicycle ergometer. In this way it can be determined how the heart reacts to (increasing) physical exertion. Some diseases and symptoms are hardly recognisable at rest and only appear under stress.

The data obtained during ergometry provide indications of, for example:

  • Blood pressure under stress
  • Exercise-induced cardiac arrhythmias
  • Coronary heart disease (disease of the coronary vessels)
  • Performance of the patient
  • Training condition in athletes.
